Executive Committee
The Pretoria Attorneys Association (PAA) represents the interests of Attorneys practising in the Pretoria area. The executive committee headed by Tiaan Joubert (Chairman) and Dawie Bekker (Vice-Chairman) consists of 16 members and meets on a monthly basis.
The Association is organised in various subcommittees to best represent members’ interests. Two fully functional offices are located at the Pretoria High Court and Magistrate’s Court to assist Attorneys and members of the public.
Christiaan Gerhardus Joubert, better known to his colleagues as Tiaan Joubert, was admitted as an attorney in 2000. He received his B.Proc and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria, and has been based in Pretoria since then. He obtained a Certificate in Advanced Labour Law in 2000. He opened his own firm in 2002 and has since then practised for his own account.
Tiaan is the chairperson of the PAA since 2016 and has served as a member of its Executive Committee since 2008.
He is a founding member of the Gauteng Attorneys’ Association (GAA) and was appointed as one of its first co-chairpersons in 2018. He was appointed as the GAA’s chairperson in 2021/2022 and has now been appointed for a second term for 2022/2023.
Tiaan was a Councillor of the Gauteng Law Society from 2014 until its dissolution in 2018. He was the convener of both the GLC’s Bursary Scheme and Subsidies sub-committees.
He represents the Gauteng Independent Constituents on the Law Society of South Africa. He also serves on the Legal Sector Code Steering Committee, as well as the Human Resources Committee of the LSSA.
Tiaan was elected as a Councillor of the Gauteng Legal Practice Council, where he chairs the Professional Affairs Committee and serves on the Extensions Committee.
Tiaan was recently requested to assemble a task team to assist the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development (DM) regarding the problems attorneys face at the offices of the respective Masters of the High Court.
As a legal advisor and general practioner, Tiaan has extensive and broad experience in various areas of legal practice. He was approached by a legal consultancy firm in 2001 and was appointed as an outsourced legal advisor for a major iron ore mining company, steel manufacturer and tertiary institution. During his employment with the consultancy firm, he specialized in drafting of contracts and litigation based on contractual disputes, which continued when he left the consultancy, to act as its attorney.

Dawie Bekker is an associate director at the firm Fourie Fismer Inc. He specializes in personal injury claims, Road Accident Fund matters and general litigation in the firm’s High Court Department. He was admitted as an attorney in 2007.
Dawie became a member of the executive committee of the Pretoria Attorney Association in 2016 and is responsible for the operations of the PAA offices at the High Court and Magistrate Court.

With a B.Proc from the University of South Africa, Millie was admitted as an Attorney in 1999, and specialises in all areas of Company Law and in particular with the registration of all types of Companies, special resolutions, prospectuses and rights offers, as well as all work related to the Companies Act 71 of 2008, as amended and the Close Corporations Act of 1984, as amended. She was also admitted as a Notary Public in 2000.
She became a partner of Friedland Hart Solomon and Nicolson Attorneys in 2001 and heads the Companies’ department of the Firm.
Millie completed a course in Advanced Company Law at the University of Witwatersrand and is currently the Treasurer of the Pretoria Attorneys Association.

Vijayta is a Director at Delberg Attorneys (previously known as Delport van den Berg Incorporated). She specialises in Banking and Finance and High Court and Magistrate’s Court civil litigation.
She obtained her BCom Law & LLB from the University of Pretoria and was admitted as an Attorney in 2014. She completed a certificate in Commercial Law in 2015.
Vijayta is currently the secretary of the Association.

Nicolette de Witt has been an admitted attorney of the high court for in excess of 22 years (since 3 August 2000).
Born and bred in Pretoria, she matriculated at Hoërskool Garsfontein in 1993 and holds a BLC.LLB degree from the University of Pretoria.
She started her career as Candidate Attorney at Pretoria law firm then known as Gildenhuys Van der Merwe in September 1999. After her admission as attorney on 3 August 2000 she joined the firm’s litigation department as Associate, where she spent her first eight years of practice defending liability claims against the firm’s major clients such as Santam, Mutual & Federal (now Old Mutual Insure) and the Road Accident Fund. It was during this time that she gained specialised knowledge and insight into the world of liability litigation. Having come through the proverbial ranks, she was appointed as Director in January 2007. In the years that followed, Nicolette continued to extend and deepen her skills set for a further 12 years, during which time she held the position as the operations Director of the firm, spent a number of years practicing in the firm’s commercial litigation and public law department, and then re-joined the firm’s personal injury- and general litigation department, acting mainly on behalf of Plaintiff clients in liability matters.
In February 2020 Nicolette joined Gert Nel Inc. attorneys, where she further honed her skills, especially when it comes to dealing with high volumes of matters, and correspondent referral instructions from all over the Republic of South Africa.
In a move that would allow her to focus more on the practice of liability law, and her fervent passion for client care and service excellence, Nicolette founded DWM Attorneys along with seasoned liability law attorney Adél van der Merwe in 2022.

Mr Dawie de Villiers is a duly admitted attorney in the High Court of South Africa and practising in style and manner of Dawie de Villiers Attorney since 2003.
Dawie de Villiers specializes in Criminal and Family litigation and serves on various panels whereby he attends to all Courts in the Gauteng Province, and is also a Military Legal Practisioner in which he obtained the rank of Lt Col.
Dawie de Villiers is also a Member of the Board of S.A.M.P.A., and executive member of the Pretoria Attorneys Association and is currently responsible for the Lower Courts.

Francois Bouwer is a Director of WF Bouwer Attorneys Inc and specialises in Administration of Special Trusts, Deceased Estates and Curatorships.
Francois completed his LLB Law Degree at the University of Pretoria in 2012. He was admitted as an Attorney in 2013 and was further admitted as Notary Public in 2014, the same year he was awarded right of appearance in the High Court.
He is also member of FISA (Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa) and holds the status as a Registered Fiduciary Practitioner®.
He represents the Pretoria Attorneys Association and Gauteng Attorneys Association and serves on the Master of the High Court Committee. Members of the Association are invited to address any concerns or refer any problems to him, and he will attempt to resolve same in discussions with the Master.

Conrad obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2012 and was admitted as an Attorney to the High Court of South Africa in 2014.
He was also admitted as a Lawyer to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia in 2019.

Andre du Plessis is a South African trade mark practitioner and attorney. He was admitted as an attorney in February 2009 working in a wide range of litigation and general matters. Andre started his Intellectual Property career in 2012, when he joined Spoor & Fisher as an associate. During this period, Andre mainly dealt with trade mark prosecution, enforcement and copyright matters. In April 2016, Andre joined Pieter Burger to establish Burger Law Inc. and shortly thereafter joined PFT Burger Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys as partner. Andre joined KischIP as Senior Associate in July 2022 where he mainly focuses on trade mark prosecution matters. He is also the author of various published articles, as well as the textbook on Procedural Timetables and Prescription Periods published by LexisNexis.

Donald is a partner at Adams and Adams and the current chairman of the Property Committee of the Pretoria Attorneys Association (PAA) and a member of the Executive Committee of the PAA. He obtained his LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an admitted Attorney, Notary Public and Conveyancer. He specialises in various aspects of conveyancing and notarial practice.

Gareth was admitted as an Attorney in 1996 and Conveyancer in 2002.
Gareth has been recognised by various organisations for his expertise in the fields of corporate, commercial and property law. This recognition includes being appointed as CHAIRMAN of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Gauteng and appointments to the SAPOA National Council and Legal Committee. Gareth is also a past CHAIRMAN of the Property Committee of the Pretoria Attorneys Association (PAA), a member of the Executive Committee of the PAA, a member of the Executive Committee of the Gauteng Attorneys Association (GAA), past member of the Property Committee of the Law Society (LSNP) and past representative of the legal profession on the Gauteng Interdepartmental Stakeholders Engagement Committee (GISEC). Gareth has been appointed to the Sectional Titles Regulation Board by the Minister.
Gareth has written numerous articles and was a frequent guest on “Ask the Property Experts” on Business Day TV. Gareth speaks at a variety of property events and is a guest lecturer at certain Property Training Events.
In the field of corporate and commercial law, Gareth previously served on the Law Society’s Company Law Committee and he was also appointed to the SIRDAR Corporate Governance Panel, as well as being a member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa. Gareth is a Director of various companies and he is also the Independent Trustee on numerous Trusts.

After graduating with her BA LLB degrees in 1994 and 1997 respectively and obtaining her Certificate in Advanced Labour Law in 1999, following her admission as an Attorney in 1999 Manisha Maganbhai-Mooloo practiced in various capacities since then.
After completing her articles of clerkship at Fourie Fismer Stockenstrom attorneys, her career commenced at Maserumule Incorporated attending to labour and employment related work, from both the employer and trade union perspectives. In 2000 she joined Maponya Incorporated until August 2007 where she specialised in personal injury law litigation as a defendant attorney, professional liability claims and general commercial litigation. In September 2007 she joined Dyason Incorporated where she continued to specialise in personal injury law litigation and insurance law litigation again as a defendant attorney. In July 2008 she joined Adams & Adams where she initially continued with a personal injury law litigation practice, medical malpractice litigation, both as a plaintiff attorney, and professional liability claims. She thereafter joined the commercial litigation team, focusing on both a general commercial litigation practice and specialising in all aspects of employment law, until her departure at the end of May 2016. She joined Mphela & Associates in July 2016 where she acts both in a managerial capacity and conducts a multi-disciplinary practice straddling a personal injury law litigation, medical malpractice litigation, unlawful arrests/detention and a commercial litigation practice. She has recently become an accredited mediator.
Over the years, Ms Maganbhai-Mooloo’s practice includes advising on and conducting litigation relating to both commercial and general litigation. Within her areas of specialisation, she has acted extensively for various corporates, both public and private entities, ranging from small start-up companies to large corporations as well as Boards, CEO’s of statutory bodies, international clients, embassies based in South Africa and parastatals on all aspects of employment law.
She has written numerous articles on, inter alia, key legislative changes in employment and labour law, recent case law and the impact of same on employers and employees alike and on matters of general legal interest. She has contributed to the Africa Handbook more specifically on employment law, which was collectively drafted by some of the commercial partners at Adams & Adams as well as to the South African Chapter of The International Comparative Legal Guide to Franchise, more specifically on employment law.
Ms Maganbhai-Mooloo finds time in her schedule to continue with mentoring of young attorneys. She is a member of the Legal Practice Council, South African Society for Labour Law, Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa, Women Leading in Law, Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa, International Federation of Business and Professional Women, Johannesburg, Black Lawyers Association and Pretoria Attorneys Association.

Thekiso served his articles at Tau Phalane Attorneys and was admitted as Attorney in November 2001. He then joined the Road Accident Fund from 2001 to 2007, initially as a Claims Handler and later as Senior Litigation Officer charged with high value claims, as well as supervision over Claims Handlers in his Section.
He then went on to practice at Fourie Fismer Incorporated from 2007 – 2013 where he held the positions of Associate, Senior Associate and Associate Director. In January 2014, Thekiso commenced employment with GMI as a Director in the Commercial Litigation and Public Law Department of the Firm.
Thekiso has immense passion and tenacity for a great variety of legal disciplines. However, his main focus is public law, constitutional law as well as employment law.

Inge obtained her LLB degree (Cum Laude) from the University of Pretoria in 2015 and was admitted as an Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public during 2017. She practices as an Associate in the Conveyancing department at VZLR Inc. She specialises in property law, commercial property transactions, developments, notarial practices and related matters.
Inge is a member of the Executive Committee of the Pretoria Attorneys Association and oversees the Association’s Events Sub-Committee. The committee is responsible for organising the events of the association, which promote networking amongst members and the fraternity at large.
