It has now been more than a year since the publication of the initial Gauteng High Court Mediation Directive (“GHCMD”) on 22 April 2025. The Gauteng litigation fraternity continues to actively engage with the process of integrating the procedures introduced by the GHCMD into everyday practice.

The appointment of a suitable mediator is a critical consideration at the very outset of the mediation process—particularly when drafting a Rule 41A notice or an Amplified Rule 41A notice. Much like the selection of counsel, it is incumbent upon practitioners to propose mediators whose expertise, seniority, and fee structures align with the nature and complexity of the matter.

At present, mediator details are published across the websites of no fewer than 16 Registered Mediation Organisations (RMOs) listed in Annexure “A” to the Revised GHCMD (24 October 2025), as well as on the ADR Technology Group’s website referenced in paragraph 3.4 of the GHCMD.

As part of the Pretoria Attorneys’ Association’s ongoing efforts to assist members to navigate the day‑to‑day practice of law, the PAA’s High Court Committee has taken the initiative to prepare a consolidated list of GHCMD mediators.

The list is provided in a downloadable, filterable Excel format to assist practitioners in identifying suitable mediators for specific matters. It is offered as a service to the profession and will remain available until such time as a similar consolidated list is published by the mediation industry.

Given the manner in which the list was compiled, and since new mediators are accredited on an ongoing basis, it may not be fully up to date or accurate at all times. The PAA’s High Court Committee will conduct quarterly reviews and updates, with the latest update date reflected on the published list.
