The program for the hearings arranged by the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, scheduled to take place from 24 July 2018 to 8 August 2018 have been made available. The program is available for download below.

Members practicing in the area of Road Accident Fund matters are reminded of the public hearings scheduled to take place shortly.

This is yet another step in the legislative process bringing RABS closer to be introduced into law.

To ensure effective and meaningful public consultations, it is of utmost importance that:

1. There is excellent turnout from all interested and affected individuals and groups from all walks of life at these public hearings, across all provinces;
2. Attendees reflect the broader demographics of South Africa and be representative of all South Africans;
3. Attendees properly and meaningfully engage during these public hearing sessions, by posing questions and challenging the RABS model, and ensuring that the necessary debate take place;

Practitioners are again urged and advised to attend these consultations in their numbers, as far and wide as possible to ensure good turnout.

It is further recommended that practitioners also encourage their staff to attend and participate in these sessions, as everyone will greatly be affected should RABS see the light of day.
